Website for Casper Ruud
In collaboration with Team Casper Ruud, Vasser designed a new website with new functionality. Together with the tennis organisation ATP we implemented a live score ticker for when Casper Ruud plays matches – the API continuously pulls results, rankings and other details from the central tennis database.
One of the world's best tennis players: Casper Ruud
Casper Ruud is one of the world's best tennis players. He is currently ranked number 8 in the world, and is playing the semi-final of Roland Garros 2022 as we write. Team Casper Ruud is Casper's support team. They want Casper to have a digital platform where the content is 100% owned by Casper, and a website that serves as a credible source of press releases and news while presenting sponsors well. Casper Ruud is becoming a strong brand despite his young age, and it matters that this is looked after professionally in the digital space.
Challenges and goals
The original website did not quite match Casper Ruud as a brand. Beyond news updates it was static, and did not meet visitors with what they came looking for. The site had plenty of traffic, but little utility. The goal became a website that served fans, tennis enthusiasts and sponsors to a much greater degree. More frequent, more relevant content had to be achieved without spending more resources on content production – a challenge in itself.
Based on insight we had built up earlier, and with the help of the Core Model, it was decided together with Team Casper Ruud to make a series of moves to lift Casper Ruud further digitally and create more utility on the new website.
How Vasser solved the new Casper Ruud website
First, design sketches were drawn up in Figma to test colours, fonts and rough responsiveness. A staging server was set up where the design was integrated front-end. Vasser was also in dialogue with the ATP about integrating data from their API. We mapped what data was available through the API and shaped it visually to fit the new website. The website is built on standard code with a user-friendly publishing solution from Craft CMS, making it easy to update content beyond the API data.
A visual identity fit for one of the world's best tennis players
We adjusted Casper Ruud's visual identity to lift it towards a more exclusive, premium expression. The colours were previously based on a more down-to-earth profile; they are now tuned to a dark palette with stronger contrasts. Readability and clarity have been emphasised. The existing font was kept as a link to the existing logo, which was originally designed by Stig in his time as a partner at Dunderverk.

The website is built with Craft CMS, TailwindCSS, GSAP for animations and back-end API integrations with the ATP Tour's official API. Live results appear while Casper Ruud plays matches, and results update continuously and automatically. The same goes for the ATP ranking and other details such as weight, age and more. Integrating content dynamically via an API this way removes the content-production bottleneck of the past.
