PHP updates at Domeneshop from 7.x to 8.x
We have several clients using Domeneshop to purchase and organise their domains. In a few cases they also use web hosting from Domeneshop. This article is about the recent update from Domeneshop, and what steps need to be taken.
What does it mean for customers with websites hosted at Domeneshop?
Domeneshop themselves say the following:
PHP 7 is no longer supported by PHP. To avoid problems with your website you must update your software (e.g. WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Laravel) so it supports PHP 8.1 and newer.
If you experience problems, you can temporarily downgrade to PHP 7.4 to get your websites working again. The upgrade is unavoidable, so contact your web developer if you run into problems along the way.
On 17 January 2023 we will upgrade your web hosting to PHP 8.2 if you are still using PHP 7.
This means that if you have a website that started having technical problems after 17 January, the most likely reason is that parts of the technology framework in use are outdated.
Feel free to get in touch with us if you are at a loss and need someone to talk to. We have assisted several clients with problems related to this update, and can in most cases quickly diagnose the problem and work out which steps need to be taken.
